Saving the seeds

I don't know what the kids love more, carving the pumpkins or just saving the seeds to toast. G and I sat there while she slopped pumpkin guts into the bowl. At one point we looked at each other and about gagged. He told her that he thought she was ready to gut a deer.. oh, just jokin, he probably wouldn't even do that. Maybe we can get Sarah Palin to come over and show us how it's done. MAVERICK.. Oh, guess who got a bath after this little adventure. Yes she stuck her face right down inside. She had pumpkin in her eyebrows and on her chin. She doesn't know that I have pics but oh I do.. I have pics of everything. Their photo essay at graduation will take days.

Nice, very nice.

We have a couple more pumpkins to carve and I will try to show step by step how to roast the seeds. If they don't eat them before I get to it.

Our first try

G is already a nerdy geocacher with his pokin' stick.. just kiddin' honey. I don't know where he thinks he is going on this thang.

He really wants to find the treasure.

G and I took the youngest to go geocaching our first time ever. We didn't find the treasure but we had fun looking for it. I declared I would take pics and come home and blow them up and look for it. It didn't work. I still don't see anything. If ya don't know what geocaching is go to this website and check it out. ~Cathy

This little guy was running around town looking for his football and stopped in to report it stolen at our police department. I just had to get a pic of this.. See our sign in the background, it took a beating during Hurricane Ike and is kind of still in pieces. ~Cathy

Be patient

Well I went back to the doctor today and well yesterday too but whose counting. Okay a recap-

1. I have bone pain, not muscular, not joint- BONE! I hurt, I hurt all the time, everywhere.

2. My family doc says I have fibromyalgia but sends me for a bone scan.

3. Bone scan comes back that due to a pulmonary osteo something-er-other that is linked with Leukemia. He doesn't know what it is and has to look it up so come back in 3 weeks..

4. Due to the pulmonary thing I go see my pulmonary doc. He runs blood work, and xray and sends me for a sleep test. Then tells me to come back in 2 weeks. 1. He thinks I still have an infection/bronchitis?? 2. He wants to know if I have sleep apnea which is causing low level of O2 getting to my bones.

5. I go to the sleep test, everything okay except I have restless leg syndrome. I woke up 19 times an hour during my sleep study. WOW.. no wonder I'm tired. I tried to tell him, well yeah cause my legs hurt. Sleep doc says that my bone pain has nothing to do with O2 or sleep and sends me for more blood work which came back okay for everything he tested for. But to see him 2 weeks.

6. Yesterday Pulmonary doc says he doesn't know what's wrong and to follow up with sleep doc.

7. Today, sleep doc says that nuclear medicine doc wants a pt scan and that he doesn't know what's wrong whatever it is is in my bones and it's rare.. Of course it is.. it's me. Everything I have is rare. But after the PT scan if they don't see anything then I have to go for a bone biopsy.. ouch. He did give me a little pain medicine and something for my restless leg. After the PT scan which will take a week or so to schedule he wants to see me. On the prescription it says oseot???noma vs. lymphnoma but he says that I don't have cancer. Doesn't sound like it to me but whatever. Then he tells me to be patient. Sure.. I hurt really bad though but I will be patient.

Thanks for letting me vent. ~Cathy

Who'd thought this would be a relief to see? I actually got it for 2.35 at Krogers the other night with my kroger plus card. But this is still good, hell 3.48 is good compared to 4.14

cAtDoG

Guess the words "trim your bangs" appealed to Baxter cause before I could get Emma on the counter he was up there waiting. Then she stuck her tongue out at me cause they don't appeal to her as much. Anyways she sat there, he watched, tried on some lipstick and then took off before I could get a hold of him and whack something off.. oh, just jokin. She doesn't like me too much when I trim her, she don't fight me but should would rather be biting his bum.

She thinks if she plays the weak and sick that I won't torture her..oh how wrong she is.... She does love it afterwards, she trots around like a hot momma..

Part 8- The Wake

We went to the Round House to see Mike "Mad Dog" Adams. He was great. I had a headache and he caught me rubbing my head. After that the Cincy jokes were a flyin'. We snuck out of there around 5pm and went back to our B & B. Some people were drunk when they came in the door at 1 pm. Just Crazy. Kind of brought back memories of Mardi Gras but what do I remember I was only 18.. So so many years ago.
Later that night the Round House was turned into a funeral parlor for "The Wake" It is the celebration, remembrance of the summer before, a final goodbye and closing of the island.

So G and I did as others did we drank from the bucket. We both just stared at it like oh my.. but when it was empty we stared even harder. G thinks it was half full of foam.. Whatever..we did it!!!! We brought the bucket home. I don't know why but someone then asked if we wore it on our heads.. hmmm? We did see highly intoxicated subjects wearing buckets but thought it was just a drunk thang.. I guess it's honor to wear it. We missed that part. Maybe next time.

Then there was this nice gal.. weirdo, psycho, creepy, just darn right strange. I think if the Websters would have played "People are strange" everyone in the bar would have pointed to them. They told us they take her "Crystal" everywhere with them. Oh, that's nice.. kind of like a traveling gnome but on the dark, creepy side. Her husband started talking in a weird voice telling everyone "down in front, I can't see" meaning Crystal.
We had enough of the Websters so we made our way back down to the Beer Barrel to see our boys one more time. Their show was free but I bet next time there will be a cover. They play on CMT and everything. I am not in to country music but they are great and play a little bit of everything. OH,, did I say they can DANCE!!!!
This is Preston up top and Chris down below. They RAWK!!! LoCASh Cowboys!!!

That was the end of our night. We went home and the next morning headed home to reality. It was a great trip and we really needed to get away for a few days and it was just enough. Actually it was a bit long, with the cold, not much to do and then nothing to but drink... it was a great time, we both enjoyed ourselves.
Well there were about 78 photos of the 1100 we took this last weekend. I had a great birthday and would love to go back to Put In Bay.

Part 7- Saturday morning

G was in charge of the camera while I drove.. yeeehawww...

Now that's a boat garage.

Downtown was getting busy. We cruised the island one more time and then took a quick nap before our big night. There just wasn't much to do beside drive around and take pictures. We found ourselves rushing and then saying we need to slow down and sit for awhile cause there was really no where to go. There was no strip mall, no fast food, no movie cinemas. I wanted to hang out in the parks but it was just too cold and windy. Late late spring like May would be awesome.

~Cathy

Part 6- Around town- Friday

We drove to the other side of the big island and found Perry's Cave. At least one of the kids would think this was neat with all the Geodes.

You buy a Geode and they cut it front of you. Of course they aren't fancy and colorful like the ones in the gift shop and then I found they are shipped in from New Mexico. What? Anyways, it's something different to do.

The golf carts were out today. Mad Dog said that summer on the island looked like Tiger Woods funeral there are so many.We stopped at the Brewery for dinner. It wasn't good at all. We won't go back there. Tippers Bar turned out to have the best food. At this time of year it was so limited. We met this couple, Gary and Dawn. They are from Michigan and have 14 year old triplets at home. We hung out, skipped the bars with them and took them a ride on our golf cart. 4 old folks cruising the bars?? We really had a blast but we can't and won't make this a every weekend thing. Once or twice a year is good enough for us.We left Tippers and went to the Round House to watch the Websters from Cincy. They play new bands and some old 80's alternative like the Violent Femmes, OMD, The Cure.. Awesome. G didn't enjoy it that much but us girls were having a good time.
Then we stopped at the Broadway and left within 5 minutes, their band was horrible.. I'm sorry but they were. Then we ended up back at Tippers/ Beer Barrel and watched the LoCash Cowboys. Again, Awesome show and did I say that they can dance.. oh, yes they can. After they were done we went next door to Mr. Eds and they just had a DJ. We decided that we had had enough for one night and drove our little golf cart home to our fancy (not really)B & B. There isn't much to do on the island, when you ask people what you should do at NIGHT, their reply is "Get Drunk" hmmm.. That just don't fit into G and I's nightly schedule. Come on we had our time to drink when we were young, who wants to get drunk every night?
What do ya get when you combine a wake, a bucket, weirdos and 2 southerns in PIB>>> stay tuned.
