My Mom and Dad

Geocaching
Here we are on our first geocaching adventure. This is my mom. This is my dad, he is playing with the GPS unit. We talked my brother in to coming along for the adventure. I don't think he was too thrilled until he found the very first one. Now it has his attention.
1 HUNT/ 1 FIND
This my dad and I falling behind trying to get the the GPS set for walking mode and he was reading the hints. Remember to always print out the hints unless you have the premium package and can download them to your GPS. Which we don't have. Just print them.Mom is in hunt mode. It's kind of like mushroom hunting but you're not really sure what you are looking for and you can do this any season any place in the world. When the kids are bored send them out to find a treasure.

Here is the GPS say "Yes, you are here, it's right here dummy just look and think out of the box" Really you won't believe what people dream up.
Awwww, there it is.. look at that. Now sign the log, look at the other visitors and then put it back exactly where ya got it so some other techno nerds can find it.

My dad the police officer, the detective, Sherlock Holmes. He has always loved mysteries, scavenger hunts and hide and seek and this is just a little more expensive then a hide and seek book. But overall the initial cost of the GPS and then the gas to get ya there and other than that it's free. You get to travel around the countryside a little. Stop in parks that you would never stop in, park on bridges, run down roads and feel up a bridge for the sake of the find. How cool is that?

2ND HUNT/ MISS
We went to a cemetery, which we weren't really comfortable with but we did look for awhile.
My brave brother that stuck his hand in the hole after trying every flash light in my car.. Yes, I have a few. Well there are in my SWAT bag. C'mon give me a break. I need light while chasing the drunk bad guys.

3RD HUNT/ 2ND FIND WAS AT THE SCHOOL WHICH I DIDN'T GET ANY PICTURES OF CAUSE I LEFT THE CAMERA IN THE CAR. BUT WE FOUND IT.
After the 3rd hunt we had to go home and print some more cause honestly these did not take as long as I thought. I wondered how people said they found 13 in a day. Well now I know. Some are hard, but it just think you'll figure it out. So we went home and then headed out for one more before it got dark.

4th HUNT/ 3RD FIND
We ran out to a bridge and parked along the road. My brother walked across and the hint was look down. Well, that's exactly what you do on a bridge so he found it.

This was just a bunch of stuff, wet stuff. The log was all wet and the container was cracked.
Next Day
5th HUNT/ 4TH FIND

We went out to an old bridge where the kids used or probably still party on the weekends. The bridge is horrible to drive over. You go up and then you go down. Buses can't make this during snowy days.

Dad found this one and then waited for me and baby (camera) to get into the thorns to get the picture. This one was awesome. It was dry and it had a lot of cool things in it. Do you see it? It had makeup, a kids fun pad, farm animal ribbon, play doh. Dad kept yelling at mom to get her hand out of it so I could take a picture. She found a big bolt on the road so she put it in the box to add to the treasure.
6th HUNT/ 5TH FIND
This one was on and I mean on the bridge. Dad found this one too. It was October 31st and I walked across the bridge. I usually don't want to drive across this bridge cause on October 31st in 1985 2 of my classmates, Tom Withrow and Todd Miller died on this bridge on Halloween night. They were hit head on by another vehicle. I don't think they ever found out who hit them.

OUR HIDE
Then there was this bridge. My dad wanted to make his own cache and hide it. So before I left for home we ran down and placed it. He can see this bridge from their front yard. It is not published yet but will be for all to find. I used to have cheerleading and drill team practice at the bridge. I spent a lot of time here growing up. It seemed bigger back then.
This is our cache. Mom put a bunch of misc junk in it and I can't wait for people to start finding it.

This is the end of our family geocaching adventure I hope you enjoyed it. I'm sure there will be more. It was a lot of fun.
