Gone Fishin'

We ran to the lake today to do a little fishing and that's exactly what it was..a little. The storm moved in about 1 hours after we got there so we packed up and came home. Emma was on the dock with us but she was getting in the way and I just knew she would get hooked so I moved her. She sat on the ramp and waited. Then one of the monsters caught this guy and he had a lot to say...go tell Emma. She was so excited but he swam off and she was not a happy camper. So her next move was to pretend she was a Navy Seal and swim out to us. I can't believe she got in by herself and went to town. She loved it..then....... Look at those big eyes.

She got out a little to far and started sputtering.. We saved her but she kept trying it.
She was fine down there with he burrs stuck to her belly and feet but the minute she got home she tucked her tail and knew something wasn't right. So I cut the burrs out and she got a warm bath.. She is a pretty girl again. Ya just got to let your hair down and get dirty once in awhile.
She loved it. I still can't believe she jumped in by herself...She is no longer my baby girl.

Dreaming of heat

The trails. I am really trying to warm up with these. Looking out the door right now I dream of the day when the grass is green again and the pond isn't frozen.

Sweltering heat breezing by the car window.
D paddle boating at Sharon Woods. Showing his stuff at the lake.
Flowers around my house.
D's foot.
Why did I ever think I wanted to spend the winter on Put-in-Bay and be snowed in for months. I was crazy.

Year in photos- July 2008

I sat in the water all day yelling across the lake at the family of boys making this rope swing. I had the jet ski ready in case of problems. I took about 1000 pictures of them that day...no kiddin.. Finally they got the brush cut out and the rope in place. The next day D was covered with poison ivy.. nice. You know what happens when ya pee in the woods..yeah..down there. Big boys introducing the newest male family member to the water. They were teaching him the ways of the world, only going about 5 mph.. you can tell they are real concerned that they might fall off. This is like riding a bike to them. They had to do more work just keeping the float from floppin over forward and dumping little Hunter into the water. I remember when D was this little guy..he has been a water baby since the day he was born. When I was pregnant with him I was on bed rest so I would go to the lake and lay on a raft and the family would bring me my pills so I didn't have contractions and I would sun and drink water and pee on myself all day. Oh, that was the life.

They got some Captain in them or so they think. This is the only other time Cousin D had his dang boots off except for the day he rode the dirt bike and wrecked and had metal in his foot and ended up in surgery after finally telling the truth and yeah....and he won't do that again..
D taking a break from the sun. I think he has that same ole' bracelet on to this day.. Ok, yuck. He had also just got his fancy dancy braces. Isn't he handsome? He's my boy,, my one and only baby boy. Oh how I wish he was little again.
Now this is ridin'
And this is canoeing when everyone else jumped ship to swim back. Thank goodness G came along and pulled him back..with the others hanging on. Lazy kids.
We all went to Coney Island. They swam, rode ride and we all had family therapy (the good kind) on the bumper cars.

We took the kids to Sharon Woods. They played in the creek and we all rode paddle boats around chasing ducks. Just kiddin'
That's it for July.. I don't know why I don't have more pics..This must have been our slow month. More of my year in photos to come..

Gone fishin'

This was Emma's first trip to the lake. She loved it.
She was a dirty little girl by the end of the day. She could hear the shampoo calling her name.
This is the first picture you can actually see her collar. She wears collars from Elmo's closet. Check them out. http://www.elmoscloset.com/
She loved watching the bobbers.
She had to inspect every fish before they swam off.
When the bobbers would get close she would swim for them.
She is a designer fisherman.

Summer Fun

We went to the lake yesterday afternoon and played around in the water, ate dinner, played cornhole and had a bon fire. My SIL went home so I stayed in the camper with 6 kids. They were so tired they went right to sleep but I was freezing and I finally got up and found that my niece had set the A/C at 60. brrrrr....

I love camping down here. It's just family and friends and it's like 5 minutes away from the house. There is no traveling, no expensive hotel room and the kids love it. It's the easiest vacation, no roughin it here though, we have a shower house with hot water, bathroom, ceiling fans, frig, and microwave in the shelter houses. There is so much for the kids to do. They can swim, canoe, boat, tube, ride jet ski (age limit), play in the sand, ride bikes, play games and they even love to paint rocks. There is one shelter house that is used for crafty stuff. One year they wrote Toby Keith on the picnic table. He was supposed to come down and fish while in Cincinnati for a concert but never made it.

There is only rule to all this fun..... if you are in the water you must have a life jacket on. Period!!!

The kids went to the other side of the lake to build a rope swing on the cliff.

We have a new generation of water babies. I only had to ask him once if he wanted to go with the big boys. His answer was "Yep" and he headed out in the water. Then he cried when he had to get off the float. **Second Picture** Looks like someone took a bath in the lake.

Some fancy jumps- The cousins from Texas went fishing- The boys have some Captain in them.

"Why do you have to take so many pictures?" Because I want to have pictures and memories of my child experiencing everything in life.

Jet Ski vs. Canoe
This is part of the 498 pictures I took last night and today. I will post more tomorrow.
