What is expected

I have a few questions I would like to ask all my blogging peeps. I really don't care what your answer is as long as it is your honest opinion.

If you were to hire a cleaning lady or you were wanting to start a cleaning business what would be your answer on these few questions. Let's say it's your first time in a house what are some of the things that you would expect or be your everyday cleaning.

1. If asked to oil the balcony and banisters in the hall would you take the time to do it or just run a rag down the banister? Or would this be labeled under spring cleaning?

2. Would you take everything off the dresser and dust?

3. Clean up a kids room that was asked by parents to pick up and they refused or didn't do it?

4. Windex computer screens and glass fronts of cabinets in bedrooms?

5. If there was a dead moth in clear view between two couches would you leave it or sweep it up.

6. Clean out a soap dish on the side of the tub? Everyday or Spring cleaning item?

7. Wipe off the towel racks and toilet paper holders?

I am kind of stuck with what is expected and what should be expected.
Love to hear from you. ~Cathy

Hmmm... I think that there would have to be a discussion between the client and the cleaning lady about some of these...

If I had a cleaning lady coming over once a week, I would say:

1. If asked to oil the balcony and banisters in the hall would you take the time to do it or just run a rag down the banister? Or would this be labeled under spring cleaning? IF ASKED, yes. If not, not every time.

2. Would you take everything off the dresser and dust? Yes.

3. Clean up a kids room that was asked by parents to pick up and they refused or didn't do it? NO.

4. Windex computer screens and glass fronts of cabinets in bedrooms? I don't know about the computer screens... I think that would have to be asked.

5. If there was a dead moth in clear view between two couches would you leave it or sweep it up. Should DEF. be cleaned.

6. Clean out a soap dish on the side of the tub? Everyday or Spring cleaning item? For sure.

7. Wipe off the towel racks and toilet paper holders? Probably not every time.

I don't think oiling the banister would be every day cleaning, but should be something a cleaner is paid extra for. But if asked and agreed upon, it's gotta be done.

Pick up kid's toys? No no. That is not cleaning, that's tidying your mess.

A moth? Soap scum? That IS a cleaner's job.

Do you have a maid, or are you becoming one?

I think Justine/Justiney/Tiney gave pretty good answers above.
